2012 Fiat 500C Convertible Reviews

2012 Fiat 500C Convertible outdoor driving excitement of nostalgic old world designs. The new models are the Italian style, functionality, durable, high-performance design and innovative technology for a new generation of drivers. The all-new 2012 Fiat 500 users in the return of the Fiat brand to North America.

There was once a car so small it made the Mini seem like a Big. Now, with Fiat purchasing Chrysler last year, the Fiat 500 has been chosen to be the pioneer model to reintroduce the Fiat brand to North America.

Compared to a Mini Cooper, it's 6 inches shorter in overall length and 2 inches narrower. An Italian car built by Chrysler in the same Mexico plant that built the K-Car, the Neon and the PT Cruiser?

The 2012 Fiat 500 is a two-door subcompact hatchback available as a hardtop or Fiat 500C convertible. Standard equipment on the Fiat 500 Pop includes 15-inch steel wheels and chrome-trimmed wheel covers, keyless entry, full power accessories, heated mirrors, air-conditioning, cruise control, a tilt-only steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver seat, a trip computer and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player and auxiliary audio jack. The Convenience package (standard on the Fiat 500C) adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, Fiat's Blue&Me Bluetooth phone connectivity and an iPod/USB audio interface. The Fiat 500 Sport gains 16-inch alloy wheels, firmer suspension tuning, retuned steering, slightly different styling, a roof spoiler, foglamps, sport seats, cloth/vinyl sport upholstery and the Pop's two optional packages. The Safety & Convenience package (automatic transmission required) includes automatic climate control, a compact spare tire and heated front seats.

Also included are 15-inch alloy wheels, exterior chrome accents, foglamps, a fixed glass roof (hatchback only) and upgraded cloth upholstery. The Luxury package adds leather upholstery and upgraded trim.

The good: The 2012 Fiat 500C's looks invite favorable attention from passersby. The bad: The stereo had difficulties integrating with MP3 players, and the stereo interface was poor. The four-cylinder engine is short on power.

Fiat chose well with the Fiat 500C, and its hardtop compatriot the Fiat 500, for re-entering the U.S. market, as this car's retro styling evokes the company's past. As a modern remake of a classic car, the Fiat 500C invites comparisons with the modern Mini Cooper. With base prices well below $20,000, the various Fiat 500 models compete directly with a field of small cars often featuring boring, pedestrian design. Take away its sheet-metal contours, and the Fiat 500C is really just another boring small car. The Fiat 500C variant piles on the style with its roll-back cloth roof. With the top bunched up in back, the rearview mirror only shows large cars, such as SUVs. The phone integration was fine, easily pairing with an iPhone, downloading the phonebook, and allowing dialing by name through voice command.

Press Release

Fiat and Gucci introduce the new "500C by Gucci" cabriolet with an innovative European tour

On the wave of the remarkable interest attracted by "500 by Gucci" - 3000 pre-orders logged on the www.500bygucci.com website and requests from all over the world - Fiat and Gucci introduce the "500C by Gucci", a cabriolet version once again customised by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini in collaboration with the Centro Stile Fiat.

Orders will start in August. The car will be distributed worldwide and from September will be on display in selected Italian Fiat showrooms. It will have a price tag of 20,000 euros. Furthermore, as from 19 August, "500C by Gucci" will be the star of an original tour that will stop at some of the most famous places in Europe.

All the exclusivity of the "500 by Gucci" - attention to detail, feeling of elegance and style - is enhanced in this new version, and made even more attractive by the innovative electric soft top for opening a "window onto the sky".

The new convertible version will be available in two sophisticated body colours: white with matte chrome-plated elements and glossy black with shiny chrome-plated accents. For both, the soft top is black with the characteristic green-red-green Gucci web pattern printed lengthwise (the same graphic pattern is sported on the side of the car). Furthermore, the side pillars of the saloon version are maintained and with its special sliding electric top the Fiat "500C by Gucci" can be enjoyed all year round.

The exterior of the Fiat "500C by Gucci" is embellished by 16" alloy wheels characterised by the unmistakable retro design of the spokes, in perfect harmony with the exterior colours: an absolute first for cars in this category. The hub caps have a double "G" logo in matching body colour and the Gucci signature in italics is displayed on the tailgate and on the door pillar.

The passenger compartment of the Fiat 500 by Gucci also brims with style: stylish stitching, exclusive materials, satin and polished chrome-plated elements, a velvet-effect finish on the radio panel and two-tone Frau leather seats with Guccissima print. The "Gucci" web theme also appears on the seats, gearbox, key cover, mats and, with an innovative finish, on the seat belts.

Fiat "500C by Gucci" will of course come complete with a great deal of standard equipment: automatic climate control system, seven airbags (front, side, window and knee), Blue&Me system integrated with rear parking sensors, car radio with CD-MP3 player and leather steering wheel with radio controls.

Before debuting in showrooms in August the "500C by Gucci" will be the star of an original tour that will stop at some of the most charming locations in Europe. The first stop will be at Saint Tropez (from19 to 27 August) followed by Berlin (8 - 14 September), Barcelona (25 September - 2 October), London (16 - 23 October) and Geneva (23 - 30 October). In Italy, the tour will start from Forte dei Marmi (22 - 28 August) and then reach Rome (4 - 11 September), Florence (19 - 26 September) and Milan (8 - 16 October).

A striking 5-by-5 metre crystal cube with elegant shiny black lacquered bottom and top will be set up for each stage of the tour. Inside, set like a precious jewel, an example of the exclusive cabriolet will be on show. At night, the installation will light up creating a suggestive atmosphere that will further enhance the elegant car and the prestigious location. The stage is completed by three small showcases displaying some of the articles in the "500 by Gucci" collection, which comprises travel accessories, small leather goods, track suits, bomber jackets, driving gloves, eyewear and a watch.

Like the saloon version before, an original advertising campaign has been created for the Fiat "500C by Gucci" in which the car features next to model Natasha Poly. The selected Fiat dealerships that will be displaying the "500C by Gucci" will receive copies of an exclusive lifestyle brochure created as a fashion catalogue and designed to bring out the class and one-of-a-kind nature of this extraordinary interpretation of the glamorous world of 500 in artistic photographs.

2011 Fiat Punto 150° Reviews

There are a number of aesthetic additions to the Punto’s exterior to go with a choice of three Euro 5 engines.

Unfortunately, this limited run Fiat Punto will only be sold exclusively to the Italian market beginning sometime in April 2011. Inside the Punto 150°, Fiat comes with a radio-CD audio system with MP3 compatibility and a standard A/C unit.

Fiat is offering the Punto 150° with a number of engine options, including two petrol variants and a diesel option. The petrol versions come in either a 1.2-liter engine that produces 69 horsepower or a 1.4-liter version that produces 77 horsepower.

From what we’ve seen only one other Italian automaker has released a special edition car to celebrate the country’s 150th year of unification. So instead of comparing these two models, we’ll just join both cars and their respective manufacturers - Fiat and Lamborghini - in celebrating Italy’s special anniversary.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fNXnKVudfPU/TW4uxJdfcdI/AAAAAAAEE7o/vRSWqPKaP1M/s1600/Fiat-500C-Z-5.JPG

This year's edition of the Geneva Motor Show is buzzing with concept models of all sorts of sizes and shapes. The one you see pictured above is based on the popular Fiat 500 mini and is the result of the collaboration between the Fiat Group Automobiles' Centro Stile and the Zagato design house.

Showcased at the Fiat stand, the "500 Coupé Zagato" is said to have been inspired by the namesake predecessor built in the 1950 by the famous Italian bodyworker on the chassis of the original 500.

From the window line and below, the 500 concept is identical to the standard three-door hatchback model. However, the concept gets a completely new top with a sloping coupe-like roof featuring Zagato's trademark double-bubble design.

Other features include the burnished chrome exterior elements, 17-inch chrome shadow alloy wheelss with a brand new double spoked shape and synthetic inserts wrapped in 205/40 R17 tires and 4 perforated brake discs.

The concept is 3,550 mm long, 1,630 mm wide and 1,490 mm high, with a 2,300 mm wheelbase. Inside, Fiat says the 500 Coupe gets a 2+2 seating layout and a bespoke interior with sporty "diamond" seats trimmed in black and yellow two-tone leathers and other unique features.

Power for the 500 Coupé Zagato is provided by Fiat's turbocharged two-cylinder gasoline unit with 105 HP at 5,500 rpm and 155 Nm (114 lb-ft) of peak torque at 2,500 rpm, which promises reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of just 95 g/km.

Abarth Scorp-Ion Sports Coupe Concept

Even though Fiat executives have been coy on a stand-alone sports car for the Abarth brand, the Italian firm went ahead and collaborated with the Istituto Europeo di Design of Turin (IED) for the creation of design study that will receive its grand premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in about a week's time.

The sports coupe is named Abarth Scorp-Ion and it was designed by seven IED students who worked under the supervision of designers Luca Borgogno from Pininfarina, and Luigi Giampaolo from Maserati.

The goal was to design a bespoke compact-sized sports car with lines that evoke the scorpion (the official symbol of Abarth) without any references to the Fiat brand, with which Abarth is often identified.

The result is a futuristic looking two-seater coupe that measures 4,010 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, 1,192 mm in height, and rides on a 2,350 mm long wheelbase.

The Scorp-Ion is motivated by four electric motors, one on each wheel, but that's about all Abarth had to share with us for now. Further details are to be released at the Geneva Motor Show.

Geneva Preshow: Fiat Publishes New Photos of Freemont Crossover

The star of Fiat's exhibition area at the Geneva Motor Show and the first Fiat-branded vehicle to come out of the partnership with the Chrysler Group is the new Freemont 7-seater crossover. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that the Freemont is a re-badged 2011 Dodge Journey, but if for whatever reason you weren't satisfied with the first batch of official photos, the Italians have just released a more comprehensive set that includes pictures of the interior as well.

We'll remind you that the Freemont is due to go on sale in Fiat dealerships across Europe from the second half of 2011. The Italian firm's newcomer will initially come with front-wheel drive and a Fiat-sourced 2.0-liter turbo with 140HP and 170HP, linked to a manual gearbox. By the end of the year, Fiat will also offer two four-wheel drive versions fitted with the 170HP 2.0 MultiJet diesel, and Chrysler's 276HP 3.6-liter V6 petrol unit. For more details on the Freemont, check out our previous story here.
